The Badylon Freilassing Sports and Recreation Park is the first AAA-Lux LED sports park in Bavaria
The entire floodlighting system at the Badylon Sports and Recreation Park was upgraded from outdated HQI lighting to state-of-the-art, energy-efficient 6th-generation AAA-LUX LED floodlights. The lights were installed at 3 soccer fields, 1 small soccer field, 1 basketball court, 1 skate park, and along a section of the stadium’s running track.
The conversion to the new AAA-LUX LED lighting has increased both illuminance and uniformity many times over compared to the old HQI lighting.
For example, on the artificial turf field, 40 lux with a uniformity of 0.55 was previously measured; now, following the 1:1 conversion to AAA-Lux, the reading is 190 lux with a uniformity of >0.7. Unlike the old HQI lighting and many other LED competitors, the AAA-LUX LED fixtures are extremely stable in terms of performance; that is, they exhibit a maximum power loss of only 2% over 10,000 operating hours at full load.
The entire system is controlled via radio, TCP/IP, and digital input signals using the new multifunctional AAA-LUX CB2 controller. Smart control features such as dimming, timing, and twilight sensing allow the system to operate according to usage with different power settings and lighting scenes. For example, 80 lux for training at the KuRa and 190 lux during games.
AAA-Lux can also fully meet the city’s additional requirements that both the LED floodlights and the control system be expandable and future-proof. For example, the floodlight system will later be operated via RFID, and the artificial turf playing field should be easily expandable to over 200 lux. Additionally, AAA-Lux incurs no software license fees whatsoever—not even in the future!
During operation, over 70% of energy and CO₂ emissions are saved. For this reason, the renovation project in the city of Freilassing received a grant of €31,000 from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building, and Nuclear Safety, based on a resolution by the German Bundestag (www.klimaschutz.de).
At the same time, significant savings in electricity and maintenance costs will be realized in the future.
The complete retrofit (including replacement of the cables in the pole, etc.) was carried out in less than one week with our local partner, “Electric Arning.”
